Wildfires destroy 30 hectares of leaf litter, five hectares of forest in LPR

Wildfires have destroyed 30 hectares of leaf litter and five hectares of forest in the Novoaidarsky hunting range Peschanoye forestry and Severodonetsk hunting range Bobrovskoye forestry, the Lugansk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry press service reported.

On June 20 afternoon, fire engulfed five hectares of pine forest in the Gavrilkova village area, and needle litter and dry grass on an area of 15 hectares in the Peschanoye forestry of the Novoaidarskoye hunting range. The cause of the fire is being ascertained, the press service said.

Late in the afternoon of June 20, a needle litter fire was reported on an area of 15 hectares in the Muratovo village area and dry grass burnt on a two-hectare area in Bobrovskoye Forestry of the LPR “Severdonetskoye hunting range” state unitary enterprise. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The LPR Hydrometeorology Centre announced a high fire hazard level in the Republic from June 12 and extended it to June 21.

The LPR Emergencies Ministry reminded that making fires in forests and steppes was prohibited during the fire hazard period. Leaving bottles or glass fragments in forest and steppe areas is also prohibited as glass can act as magnifying lens to start a fire.*i*s
