Russia’s Vologda region will help the sponsored town of Alchevsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic to rebuild 59 infrastructure facilities this year, said LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik.

“The electrical substations scheduled for repairs are already back in service, and full-scale works are beginning on social infrastructure including a hospital, a school and a kindergarten,” Pasechnik wrote on Telegram.

Ukrainian nationalists regularly delivered fire at the town, he added.

Partial renovation of Donbass State Technical University is underway as the sponsor region has delivered 100 percent of the windows needed for repairs, the LPR leader said.

“We’re one country; we don’t leave our own behind,” said deputy governor of the Vologda region Anton Strizhov said in the course of his visit to the Republic.

“I have no doubt that thanks to this support, we’ll certainly help one of the largest industrial centers of the Republic to develop and regain its prosperity,” Pasechnik said.

The Vologda region and Alchevsk signed a cooperation agreement in June 2022.
