Tatarstan signs cooperation agreement with second LPR town

The Republic of Tatarstan has signed a cooperation agreement with authorities of the town of Rubezhnoye  which is going to be its second sponsored settlement  in the Lugansk People’s Republic.

 

The document was signed by Rubezhnoye’s Acting Mayor Sergey Khortiv and Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin at a ceremony in the LPR Government House.

 

Tatarstan will help the war-ravaged town located in the Severodonetsk area rebuild its infrastructure. Last September, it signed a cooperation agreement with Lisichansk. It has been providing relief supplies including construction materials and food, as well as assistance in rebuilding the town for more than six months.

 

“We signed the first cooperation agreement in September. Yesterday, we toured Lisichansk to assess the progress in rebuilding the town,” Pesoshin said. “We also visited Rubezhnoye and saw that the town was managed well.  Of course, there’s so much to do, but what he’s doing deserves respect.  There are some problems (due to the proximity to the frontline), but then, repairs in Lisichansk were launched this way or another.<...> We’re happy to have come here.”

 

Rubezhnoye’s acting mayor said that the cooperation accord was a long-awaited event and that Rubezhnoye residents would feel the effectiveness and quality of the assistance as do Lisichansk residents.

 

The signing ceremony was attended by LPR government chairman Sergey Kozlov who thanked Tatarstan’s leadership for practical assistance and helpful recommendations.

 

The officials exchanged souvenirs as they wrapped up their meeting.

The Republic of Tatarstan, as the sponsor region, allocated nearly 2.5 billion rubles to support Lisichansk from September 2022 to January 2023.
