Another Russian convoy has delivered to Lugansk more than 110 tons of humanitarian aid for residents of liberated areas of the Lugansk People’s Republic, head of the LPR Emergencies Ministry Rebuilding Monitoring Centre Vitaly Kucherov told reporters.

“Today, another convoy of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) has arrived in the Lugansk People’s Republic,” Kucherov said adding that EMEROCM and Terek Cossack Host trucks had delivered over 110 tons of relief supplies.

“The cargo includes baby food kits, food stuffs and essential products,” he said.

“No contingencies occurred in transit,” the official said. Hot meals and tea have been provided to the (humanitarian convoy) personnel. We express deep gratitude to the Russian federation for the assistance.”

Terek Cossack Host chief Colonel Vitaly Kuznetsov said that the Cossacks had contributed 97 tons of relief supplies as part of the auction “Caucasus for Our People” implemented by the administration of the Russian presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District.

“Terek Cossacks collected relief supplies for Donbass civilians in ten days. They include basic foodstuffs and the products people need right now,” he said.

“Terek Cossacks support the Russian president’s decisions on recognition of the independence and sovereignty of the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics,” Kuznetsov said.

“We support the president’s decision on a special operation to maintain peace and order here in Donbass. And we support the president both by word and deed.  That is why we’re here. The humanitarian cargo has been been delivered to where it is needed. It arrived on time.  We’re confident that each crumb of this humanitarian aid will be brought to people, to children and women. Thank God, we’ve accomplished this task,” he said.

On March 6, a humanitarian aid convoy consisting of 15 EMERCOM trucks and two vehicles from the Republic of Bashkortostan delivered to Lugansk more than 130 tons of supplies for residents of liberated areas of the Lugansk region.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Donbass to protect residents of the region from Ukrainian aggression and called on Ukrainian troops to leave the combat zone. Earlier, the Heads of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin, requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide military assistance. The LPR militia had liberated 54 Kiev-held settlements of the Republic by the morning of March 6.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i*s
