Police seize assault rifle, foreign ammunition on household premises outside Severodonetsk

Police officers have seized an assault file, Ukrainian nationalistic literature and foreign ammunition on the premises of a single family home in the Borovskoye township outside Severodonetsk, the Lugansk People’s Republic Interior Ministry press service reported.

 

The search for weapons, ammunition and explosives left behind by retreating Ukrainian troops is ongoing in LPR liberated areas, the press service said. “In late February, a search of an abandoned single-family home in Borovskoye found nationalistic literature, Ukrainian insignia, a car that apparently belonged to Ukrainian servicemen and an assault rifle with underbarrel grenade launcher.”

 

“It shows that Ukrainian armed formations were stationed in homes of civilians whose lives were put in danger. Police also found and seized, on the premises of this household, an RGD-5 grenade of foreign origin, a US-made M-67 grenade, a German DM-51 grenade and a box of 7.62mm ammunition,” the LPR Interior Ministry said.

 

The seized items prove the broad use of foreign weapons and ammunition by Ukrainian servicemen including against LPR civilians, it added.

 

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression on February 24, 2022. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
