Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov has ordered to relaunch the Lugansk Aircraft Repair Plant as early as possible, the Russian government press service reported.
Manturov, who made a working trip to the Lugansk People’s Republic, inspected regional industrial and trade facilities together with LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik. At the Lugansk Aircraft Repair Plant they saw aircraft engine production and repair shops.
“The company has a large potential and the required competences for production and maintenance of much needed products, but it has not operated since 2014. The deputy prime minister said that the plant had to resume operation within a short timeframe. Denis Manturov instructed the United Engine Corporation (part of the Rostec State Corporation) to provide assistance,” the press service said.
The back wages will be paid to company personnel, additional training will be provided if necessary, and all capabilities and problems of the enterprise will be assessed, Manturov said.
“In about 18 months, it has to reach the capacity it had before it stopped operation,” he added.
The Lugansk Aircraft Repair Plant state-owned company provided repairs and maintenance of military and civil aircraft and dual technology equipment, including helicopter and aircraft engines and helicopter pressure reducers.
It was the first plant in the former Soviet Union to master the technology to repair the famous TB3-177 helicopter engines and the first aircraft repair plant in Ukraine to be certified to ISO 9001.
