YouTube removes Lugansk Media Centre channel without explanations - editor-in-chief

The YouTube video hosting has taken down the channel of the Lugansk Media Centre state-owned information agency, its editor-in-chief Sergei Meshkovoy said.

‘Last night the Lugansk Media Centre channel was removed on the popular video hosting platform YouTube. It was done quite unceremoniously, without warnings or notifications,” Meshkovoy said. “It is unclear why they did it.”

At present, the information agency administration is looking into the situation. A letter has been sent to YouTube’s technical support.

“Surprisingly, the search query for Lugansk Media Centre on YouTube returns hits blank as if the channel never existed though it was created nearly seven years,” the editor-in-chief said.

Last night, YouTube also removed the channels of the LPR State Television and Radio Company and the People’s Militia press service.

“Earlier, we encountered channel or video takedowns but at least we were offered explanations. In this case we not understand the reasons behind YouTube’s action. We hope to clear up the matter today. We’ll be regretful if we do not restore the channel with several thousand quite popular videos, mostly Lugansk Media Centre briefings since 2015. “It will be a pity to lose them forever,” he added. *i*r
