Yelena Kravchenko elected chairperson of LPR’s 1st Election Commission

The members of the Lugansk People’s Republic  1st Election Commission have elected Yelena Kravchenko  the Commission’s chairwoman by secret ballot.
 
LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik, LPR parliament speaker Denis Miroshnichenko and Russia’s Central Election Commission member Alexander Kurdyumov took part in the first session of the LPR Election Commission. CEC chairperson Ella Pamfilova, her deputy Nikolay Bulayev and Head of the CEC Office Olga Bobrova attended the session via video link.
 
 All the 12 LPR Election Commission members supported Kravchenko’s candidacy. “We appreciate greatly Yelena Kravchenko,” Pamfilova said praising her principled workstyle.
 
 Kravchenko is lawyer by education who had a seat in the LPR parliament. In 2018, she was elected chairperson of  the LPR Central Election Commission and ruled it in time of the unification referendum.
 
On January 19, the LPR parliament approved the law on election/referendum commissions in the Republic. LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik said that the document envisioned the opportunity to hold remote e-voting.
 
Pamfilova earlier said that the CEC had been preparing for elections in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions on the single voting day on September 10.
 
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*ie
