The Young Guard organization of the United Russia political party (MGER) plans to launch Sambo unarmed defense sport gyms in Severodonetsk and Lisichansk next year, said MGER Chairman Anton Demidov.

“MGER plans to launch ten sambo gyms in outlying areas: Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Energodar, Zhdanovsk and Shakhtyorsk,” the party’s press service quoted Demidov as saying at a plenary session of the 2nd all-Russia forum “Sambo Time” in Moscow.

More than 1,000 sambo clubs have been launched across the country as part of the party’s sambo project. They provide training for more than 100,000 people. Over 2,000 schools and 130 universities have sambo gyms, United Russia General Council Secretary Andrey Turchak said.

“The sambo for schools project involves 2,000 education institutions and some 700,000 children. In 2023 alone, the country held more than 200 official sambo tournaments and established the Sambo School League,” Turchak said.

United Russia launched the first sambo gym in the LPR at the Lugansk’ “Intellect” Educational Complex on September 29.
