UN, ICRC won’t publicize Kiev’s crimes reported by LPR - ombudsperson

The United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will not publish the information about Kiev’s crimes passed to them by the Lugansk People’s Republic, LPR ombudsperson Viktoria Serdyukova said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Center.

 

“As the ombudsperson, I regularly pass the information (on Kiev’s crimes in Donbass) to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.<...> We always note that we have criminal case materials, so if they want to run a check, our bodies are ready to present the evidence,” Serdyukova said.

 

In response, the human rights organization send letters of gratitude for the information, she added. 

 

“When we monitor the UN and ICRC websites which details the casualties, we do not see the data we have sent to these organizations,” Serdyukova said.

It is another manifestation of double standards and biased view of the the situation in Ukraine, the ombudsperson said.

 

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

 

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
