Kiev forces have shelled dormitories in Alchevsk which accommodated displaced persons and workers who rebuild the Lugansk People’s Republic after artillery attacks, town administration head Albert Apshev told the Lugansk Media Center.

Early on Monday, Ukrainian forces fired six HIMARS missiles at the town. Three people were killed and at least 15 were wounded, according to preliminary reports.

“At 05:55, missile strikes damaged three dormitories of the Donbass State Technical University) which provided temporary accommodation to displaced persons,” Apshev said. “They also house workers who help rebuild the Republic after strikes by Ukrainian armed formations.”

One of the buildings is in critical conditions as its top three floors collapsed, he added.

Two other dormitories took damage to the roofs and windows.  Utility companies are clearing the debris, closing the heat loop and draining the heat transfer system, the mayor said.

In the morning of December 4, Kiev forces fired four HIMARS missiles at Alchevsk damaging the Industrial College of the Donbass State Technical University and the college dormitory.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

The Lugansk People’s Republic became a part of Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*ie
