Ukrainian army organizes provocations before journalists to discredit LPR - militia

Kiev forces staged provocations in the presence of journalists by opening fire in the zone of the so-called Joint Forces Operation to discredit the Lugansk People’s Republic, LPR militia spokesman Ivan Filiponenko said at a press briefing.

Over the past 24 hours, Kiev forces violated the ceasefire in the LPR responsibility zone four times, Filiponenko said.

He said that the fire delivered by the Ukrainian army was linked to the work of Ukrainian spin doctors’ shooting team in the responsibility zone of 57th Brigade.

“Ukrainian armed formations delivered provocative fire trying to make the Republic’s defenders retaliate in order to record it and accuse the LPR of not observing the truce,” the spokesman said.

“Militia units constantly monitor the enemy while strictly adhering to the terms of the effective ceasefire, and are ready to quickly respond to changes in the situation at the order of their Command,” he said.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line.*i*r
