Ukrainian army loses 40 servicemen on Krasny Liman axis over 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

Military&Defence
Ukrainian forces have lost up to 40 servicemen on the Krasny Liman axis over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

“On the Krasny Liman axis, “Center” Group air- and artillery strikes inflicted damage on units of the Ukrainian army’s 24th and 92nd Mechanized Brigades in the areas of Ostrovskoye in the Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic,” the report said. “Enemy losses amounted up to 40 servicemen killed or wounded, three armored combat vehicles, three cars, one D-20 howitzer and one US-made M-777 artillery piece.”

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
