The leaders of the Rostov and Voronezh regions and the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics have signed an agreement establishing the Donbass Community, the successor to the Donbass Euro-region that suspended its activity in 2014.

The signing ceremony took place at the Sambek Heights Military-Historical Museum Complex in the Rostov region. The document will be in effect for five years starting March 1, 2024.

The Community is expected to promote regional cooperation in all spheres. The signatories are free to launch bilateral or multilateral ties with other Russian regions which are not party to the Community.

The Community members have equal rights irrespective of territory or population size. The Donbass Community Council is the supreme governing body.

The Donbass Euro-region was launched by the Rostov, Voronezh and Donetsk and Lugansk regions in 2011 to develop socio-economic cooperation.*i*sb
