Two civilians killed, three wounded as Kiev army shells Stakhanov - mayor

Two women have been killed, three persons have been injured in a Ukrainian army strike at Stakhanov, town administration head Sergey Zhevlakov said.

"At 05:10, Ukrainian forces fired high explosive projectiles using “Uragan” multiple rocket launchers. Two women were killed, and another three persons were wounded,” Zhevlakov said.

"The town's social and civil infrastructure sustained damage. Social infrastructure includes a vocational college, a dormitory where refugees are staying, a medical college, a teachers’ training college and other buildings and structures in state ownership; dozens of single-family and multi-flat houses were damaged. Some of them were ruined by direct hits,” he said.

Debris clearing operations are underway, the mayor added.

“The more casualties they (Kiev forces) cause, the happier they are; these are probably their special atrocities; perhaps, they are not orthodox Christians. They seem to want more devastation, more causalities as they are retreating so that people don’t live, don’t stay here; they are seeking to smash all infrastructure and probably intimidate people,” said Yelena Litvinova, a tenant of a destroyed apartment house. “We’re used to scares: we’ve been living here since 2014 and have not left the place since.”

In the previous 24 hours, Kiev forces shelled the territory in the LPR responsibility zone three times.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks participants have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i*t
