Ten Ukrainian servicemen surrender - LPR militia

Military&Defence

Ten Kiev servicemen have laid down their arms and surrendered to Lugansk People’s Republic authorities, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Ivan Filiponenko said.

“(Over the past 24 hours), ten Ukrainian servicemen have made the right decision to lay down arms which saved their lives,” Filiponenko said.

In early April, the LPR militia reported that some 180 Kiev servicemen had voluntarily surrendered to LPR authorities since the beginning of the Donbass liberation operation.

LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik promised to set them free after completion of the special military operation and the end of Kiev’s resistance.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks participants have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i*s
