Ten civilians killed, 47 wounded in Kiev artillery strikes at LPR in March - ombudsperson

Ukrainian artillery strikes at the Lugansk People’s Republic in March claimed the lives of ten people and wounded another 47 civilians, said LPR ombudsperson Viktoria Serdyukova.

“Ukrainian armed formations delivered 25 artillery strikes at LPR settlements from March 1 through March 31, in which ten people were killed and 47 were wounded,” Serdyukova said in a post on Telegram.

“The casualty figures can actually be larger because the information from areas that are regularly shelled by Ukrainian armed formations only comes after fact-finding inspections and is included in subsequent updates,” the ombudswoman said.

“Russian investigators are checking the above facts in accordance with the requirement of the criminal procedure law. I forward the information on Ukrainian armed formations’ crimes against LPR civilians to international human rights organization,” she added.

In February, one person was killed and another 11 including a child were wounded in Kiev artillery attacks on the LPR. The LPR civilian casualty toll from shelling in January was 21 killed and 37 wounded.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum. *i*ie
