The Russian Ministry of Health has opened more than 2,000 pharmacies and fully renewed the fleet of ambulances in the new territories, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

“We’ve renewed the ambulance fleet because emergency care comes first, and opened more than 2,000 state- and privately-run pharmacies in the new region, which basically meets their needs,” the Kremlin press service quoted Murashko as saying.

The Ministry wants to use a part of its 2.5-billion-ruble surplus for the modernization of primary care in the new regions, as it needs large investments. “We're already doing it together with sponsor regions; 89 health care facilities have been modernized and the work on 200 is underway. We plan to complete the modernization of another 90 to 93 medical centers by yearend,” the minister said.

In 2022, LPR medical institutions received 512 vehicles, pieces of medical equipment and tools from Russian sponsor regions.

The Lugansk People’s Republic, Donetsk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referenda. *i*ie
