Russian army thwarts six Ukrainian sabotage groups on two axes

Russian armed forces have thwarted the operations of six Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the Kupyansk and Krasny Liman axes, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

“On the Kupyansk axis <...> five Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were thwarted in the areas of Novoselovskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic and Molchanovo, Olshana, Berestovoye and Orlyanka in the Kharkov region. In the Kuzmino area (Krasny Liman axis) in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Russian forces eliminated a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group,” the report said.

“Enemy losses on the Kupyansk axis over the past 24 hours amounted up to 90 servicemen, three armored fighting vehicles, two Krab self-propelled tracked howitzers and one D-20 howitzer.

“On the Krasny Liman axis, Task Force “Center” aircraft and artillery inflicted damage on Ukrainian army units in the areas of Nevskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic and Yampolovka and Serebryanka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Enemy losses on this axis over the past 24 hours amounted to more than 65 servicemen, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickups, one “Akatsiya” self-propelled howitzer,”Msta-B” and D-20 howitzers and one “Nona-C” self-propelled howitzer.

“Over the past 24 hours, air defense units intercepted <...>eight HIMARS and “Uragan” MLRS missiles. They also shot down 13 Ukrainian UAVs in the areas of Shevchenkovo and Olshana in the Kharkov region, Zolotaryovka and Kremennaya in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Vladimirovka, Kirillovka and Staromlynovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Zabarino in the Kharkov region," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation on February 24, 2022 to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*sb
