Reform to help LPR develop coal industry - Pasechnik
Society ● BusinessThe reform concept to be proposed by the Russian Energy Ministry will help revive and develop the coal industry of the Lugansk region, Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik said in an interview with the Lugansk Media Center on Day of the Republic.
“We discussed the reform concept at a recent meeting with Russia’s Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov,” Pasechnik said. “We hope that it will help revive and develop the Lugansk region’s coal-mining sector.”
Although industry revival will require time and money, the Republic cannot rely only on agriculture which currently has the largest potential, he said.
“It is one of the sectors with tremendous potential and is the easiest to launch. The development of agribusinesses will help develop remote areas, create new jobs, increase tax revenue and, consequently, give an impulse to other sectors of national economy,” Pasechnik said.
At present, companies are successfully disbursing the LPR Agriculture and Food Ministry subsidies to develop and expand crop farming, he added.
At the meeting in the Kremlin on December 20, 2022, Pasechnik said that the “Vostokugol” Republican Fuel Company state unitary enterprise had become loss-making after the beginning of the special military operation, and asked the president to include the LPR coal-mining sector in the state coal supply program.
