Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik and chairman of the Russian Independent Trade Union of Coal Industry Employees (Rosugleprof) Ivan Mokhnachuk have discussed the establishment of a Rosugleprof branch in the Republic.

The meeting took place after President Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly, Pasechnik told the Lugansk Media Center. “It was attended by State Duma lawmakers Viktor Vodolatsky and Anton Getta and a member of the Board of the all-Russia social organization for small and medium businesses Andrey Sadofyev.

“The purpose of the meeting is to decide on launching a Rosugleprof branch in the Lugansk People’s Republic,” Pasechnik said. He briefed Mokhnachuk on the problems in social protection of coal miners and their families.

Mokhanuck noted the necessity of industrial safety control by the trade union in line with the federal law dated June 20, 1996 “on state regulation in the field of mining and use of coal, on the features of social protection of employees of coal industry organizations.”

He said that the participants in the meeting agreed to hold a joint session involving representatives of coal mining companies in the LPR in the near future.

“An important result of this event will be further work to apply a whole package of measures towards social support of the above groups of citizens in the new territories similar to the measures implemented in the Russian Federation,” the LPR leader said.

Earlier, Pasechnik asked the Russian president to include the coal industry in government coal supply programs.
