Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik has awarded military decorations to fighters of the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov regiment and Chechen medical personnel.

“I awarded Orders of “Service and Courage, 1st Class” to “Akhmat” special task forces fighters and personnel of the Chechen Interior Department’s medical unit,” Pasechnik wrote on Telegram.

Pasechnik said that “Chechen Republic fighters were among the first to come to help Lugansk region residents” and stood up together with LPR militiamen to heroically fight against Ukrainian Nazis.

“During the meeting, Akhmat” commander Alty Alaudinov noted that “we are one family, one people of Russia consolidated by the common idea and loyalty to our Great Motherland,” the LPR leader said. “This makes us stronger on the way to the victory over our common enemy, the Ukrainian fascism.”

Pasechnik thanked, on his personal behalf and on behalf of all LPR residents, Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov “for comprehensive support of the Lugansk region, and the Chechen fighters for “doing the hard military service and the courage and bravery they display.”

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance. On July 3, the LPR militia and Russian armed forces fully liberated the LPR territory from Ukrainian armed formations.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

The Lugansk People’s Republic became a part of Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
