Nine miners killed in Krasny Partizan colliery accident - LPR Emergencies Ministry

Nine miners have been killed and another 19 have been wounded in an accident at the Krasny Partizan colliery in the Sverdlovsk district, the Lugansk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry press service reported.

Earlier, a source at an LPR emergency service reported mine cage rope breakage at Krasny Partizan. An Emergencies Ministry mine rescue team and disaster medicine specialists rushed to the scene to launch a rescue operation.

The bodies of the nine killed miners were brought to the surface and handed over to LPR Interior Ministry representatives. A government commission has been set up to look into the cause of the accident. The company administration is making funeral arrangements and providing assistance to the families of the killed and wounded miners, the LPR Emergencies Ministry said.

The 19 wounded miners were taken to the trauma unit of Sverdlovsk’s central hospital. Emergencies Ministry psychologists are working with the families who lost their kin in the accident.

The emergency services withdrew from the mine at 05:00 after completing the rescue effort. *i*b
