Lugansk Railways buys five locomotives as part of modernisation programme

LUGANSK, November 5 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk Railways State Unitary Enterprise has purchased five electric locomotives as part of the investment programmes to modernise the Republic’s rail industry, LPR Infrastructure and Transport Minister Alexander Basov told reporters.

Budget allocations for two investment programmes made up some 450 million rubles ($5,791,505) in 2019-2020. 

“We currently witness a pivotal event. Lugansk Railways bought five VL10 electric locomotives to increase LPR trade turnover,” Basov said.

Acting Lugansk Railways director Nikolai Bobaido said that the company had ten legacy VLV high-power locomotives.  They will undergo maintenance and will be commissioned within a week.
