The Lugansk People’s Republic’s entities engaged in foreign economic activities have started export/import operations with third countries, said Lugansk Customs Acting Head Konstantin Savelyev.

The Lugansk Customs closely interacts with LPR importers/exporters, holds meeting with representatives of industrial enterprises and provides information support. The Southern Customs Department arranges online seminars to explain the specifics of Russia’s customs regulations, Savelyev said.

“Our objective is to provide maximum support to the business community in re-orienting the foreign economic activities in the new conditions,” he said adding that these efforts had already yielded certain results, such as export/import operations with third countries.

The Lugansk Customs is installing IT equipment and providing training for customs personnel, Savelyev said.

The Lugansk Customs was established on October 11, 2022. In late December 2022, Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik signed a decree ordering to liquidate the LPR State Customs Committee.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum. *i*ie
