More than 114,000 children went to schools in the Lugansk People’s Republic as the new academic year began, said LPR government deputy chairperson Anna Todorova at the Lugansk venue of the federal educational marathon organized by Russia’s Knowledge Society.

“Today, on Knowledge Day, more than 114,000 pupils are starting a new school year in our Republic,” Todorova said. “Of those, more than 9,500 are first-years, and more than 16,000 are in their final year.”

A part of schoolchildren had the opportunity on Thursday to participate in the Knowledge Society’s marathon, she said.
The Knowledge Society’s education marathon runs for three days. Representatives of business, officials, war correspondents and scientists from Russia and the Republic share their experience and skills with the participants.
