LPR restricts access to Viber messenger

The LPR Government has temporarily blocked the Viber messenger, the Minister of Telecommunication and Media Oleg Fetisov said.

"Temporary restriction of access to Viber in the LPR starting on June 3 has been decided by the Republic's Government," he said.

Fetisov clarified that the decision has to be taken to respond to "a growing number of incidents where the service was used as part of the enemy's informational infrastructure".

Ukrainian forces used Viber to access geodata and coordinates of both civilian and military facilities.

Earlier, LPR banned Facebook and Instagram after the social platforms allowed to publish calls to violence against Russians, and adopted the policy of misinformation about Russia and Donbass, promoting fake news and banning pro-Russia news outlets without warnings or explanations. *t
