LPR reports 56 civilian casualties from Kiev artillery attacks in January

Twenty civilians have been killed and another 36 have been wounded in Ukrainian artillery attacks on the Lugansk People’s Republic in January, said the LPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine's war crimes (JCCC).
 
“Fifty-six civilians including two children one of whom died became victims of Ukrainian armed formations aggression in the designated period (January),” the JCCC said. “Twenty- people were killed and 36 were wounded last month.”
 
In December 2022, 13 people were killed and another 54 were wounded in the LPR in shelling by Ukrainian forces, said the Office of LPR ombudsperson Viktoria Serdyukova.
 
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
 
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
