LPR reports 16,706 COVID-19 cases

Lugansk People’s Republic medics recorded 16,706 coronavirus infection cases in the Republic, the LPR Healthcare Ministry press service reported.

 “As of 09:00, October 20, the LPR had 16,706 confirmed COVID-19 cases,” the report said.

A total of 12,280 people have recovered and left hospitals with two negative test results for COVID-19 since the beginning of the coronavirus infection outbreak.

The World Health Organization called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic caused by a novel coronavirus. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019. The number of coronavirus contacts across the world has exceeded 240.6 million by now; of those, over 4.8 million people died, according to the WHO. Earlier, the LPR confirmed 16,453 COVID-19 cases.

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, the LPR authorities put the Republic on high alert and introduced lockdown measures. *s
