Lugansk People’s Republic ombudsperson Viktoria Serdyukova has said that her Office plans to expand joint focus areas with activists and lawyers in 2023.

“The range of our activities will expand in the future depending on requests form our citizens,” Serdyukova told a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Center. “We currently provide consultations by telephone or via messengers, Telegram channels and email, and arrange visits by lawyers, tracking and financial assistance.”

Last year, the ombudsperson’s Office, together with the “BlagoDarite” charity foundation and the regional branch of the Russian Lawyers Association arranged consultations which turned into practical and financial assistance to people who had found themselves in a difficult situation and displaced persons from areas of intense fighting.

Interaction with LPR residents made a “huge contribution to the restoration of their rights violated by Ukraine”, she said.

“BlagoDarite” charity President Marina Zubova said that the organization would maintain the scope of operation in the LPR and targeted assistance to LPR residents, refugees, children and people in difficult circumstances.

“We continue to help social institutions, servicemen and our legal support line which has shown its effectiveness in the past six months will continue to operate, the activist said.

Head of the regional branch of the Russian Lawyers Association Viktoria Tyutyunnikova said that more than 9,000 consultations were provided to LPR residents in the second half of 2022, including 69 consultations for servicemen who had returned from Ukrainian captivity, and members of their families.

Lawyers published a booklet of recommendations and useful information for displaced persons.  It is available for free at libraries, town halls and temporary accommodation centers.  Hotline 072 (959) 520 57 95 is linked to the Telegram messenger. Calls are taken from 09:00 to 19:00 every day.   Email: TerraLex2022@yandex.ru or use the group on Telegram.

For personal consultations, lawyers are available at 13/4 Kotsyubinsky Street, Lugansk (LPR Trade Unions Federation) from 09:00 to 16:00 on Thursday. Persons with reduced mobility or health problems can use the hotline to apply for consultation by a visiting lawyer. *i*v
