Lugansk People’s Republic militiamen shot down a Ukrainian army drone which was flying to the Kalinovo township area with a fire-adjusting mission, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Ivan Filiponenko said at a press briefing.
“On the Popasnaya axis, 24th Brigade gunmen, in violation of Article 1 of the “Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire,” tried to use an unmanned aerial vehicle for adjusting mortar fire at the Kalinovo settlement area,” Filiponenko said.
In the evening of September 19, “two mortar squads of 24th Brigade 3rd battalion were seen advancing east of the Novozvanovka settlement,” he said.
"Our observers then recorded a Ukrainian AUTEL EVO 2 quadcopter flying from Novozvankovka to Kalinovo, which LPR defenders shot down as it crossed the contact line,” the spokesman said.
“Having lost the fire-adjusting equipment, Ukrainian armed formations decided not to carry out the fire provocation,” Filiponenko added.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine).
