Lugansk People’s Republic agribusinesses will be able to use a concessional lending program and lease equipment this year, said LPR Agriculture and Food Minister Yevgeny Sorokin.

“In addition to direct subsidies for our farmers, we’re launching the mechanism of concessional short loans and easy term equipment leasing this year,” Sorokin said adding that in ensuring food security, priority is given to the development of dairy cattle husbandry and pig breeding.

Earlier, he said that LPR agribusinesses had sent more than 80 requests to the Rosagroleasing  company to lease equipment worth over one billion rubles.

In mid-April, LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik announced that Rosagroleasing mobile offices would be launched in the Republic in the near future. The regional leader said that the LPR would become a profit-making Russian region with a viable agricultural sector. The agricultural potential of the Lugansk People’s Republic can enable it to become a key region in ensuring Russia’s food security, Pasechnik said.
