LPR extends forest use restrictions due to fire danger

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Safety of the Lugansk People’s Republic has extended the restrictions on staying in forests for visitors and vehicles from August 18 due to dry weather and high fire danger level.

 

The Ministry has listed coniferous forest areas in the 2022 fire hazard period, to which the restrictions will apply for 21 days till September 8.

 

Fines for fire safety rules violations amount to 1,000 to 3,000 rubles for citizens, 5,000 to 10,000 rubles for officials, 20,000 to 50,000 rubles for sole traders and 50,000 rubles for legal entities.

 

Forest fires should be reported using the Ministry hotlines (0642) 63-99-34 or (0642) 34 37 37.

 

Earlier, the LPR Emergencies Ministry Hydrometeorology Centre announced that the Republic would stay alert for highest fire danger till August 18.

 

Fire danger is a an atmospheric condition characterized by high ambient temperatures, low vapor content, lack of rains and other factors leading to wild fires and grassfires in fields and parks especially due to careless handling of fire.

 

There are five fire danger levels: very low, low, moderate, high and very high.

 

Making fires in forests and steppes is prohibited during the fire hazard period. Leaving bottles or glass fragments in forest and steppe areas is also prohibited as glass can act as magnifying lens to start a fire.*i*ie
