LPR braces for fall virus resurgence, restrictions extended


LUGANSK, October 16 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR Emergency Commission for Preventing COVID-19 spread has adopted another set of measures to curb the epidemic as fall resurgence is expected.

School holidays were extended until October 25.

Vocational colleges are to shift to online learning, hands-on training remains in place on condition of applying sanitary precautions.

Higher education institutions and supplementary education centers are to continue remote teaching until further notice.

Eateries will operate limited working hours (until 3 p.m.) until October 25, with the exception of cafes, bars and fast-food businesses who provide services for enterprises.

Night clubs, cinemas, children's entertainment centers are to be closed from October 19 until October 25.

The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019.  As of now, the number of coronavirus contacts across the world has exceeded 38 million; of those, over one million people have died. Earlier, the LPR confirmed 1,273 COVID-19 cases; 58 patients died.

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, the LPR authorities put the Republic on high alert and introduced lockdown measures.
