“Parental Glory” medals have been presented to mothers and fathers of large families at a ceremony in the capital of the Lugansk People’s Republic, LPR authorities said.

The ceremony took place in Lugansk on May 31, just ahead of International Day for Protection of Children. "It was attended by LPR Leader Office Chief of Staff Alexey Samoilov, LPR ombudsperson Inna Shvenk, and families from across the Republic," said the press service of the LPR leader’s Office.

“Mother and father play an important role in each person’s life while strong family ties give the feeling of safety, comfort and unconditional love," said Samoilov in an address to the participants. "Regardless of the difficulties in the modern situation, the state always gives maximum support and attention to the younger generation.”

The official presented medals to 18 families which were bringing up five to 13 children.

International Day for Protection of Children is marked annually on June 1. It was established during the Congress of the Women’s International Democratic Federation in Paris in November 1949. The United Nations supported the initiative and proclaimed the protection of children’s rights and health one of its priorities. *i*v
