Law provides for remote electronic voting in LPR - Pasechni

The law on election commissions in the Republic envisions the opportunity to hold remote e-voting in the Lugansk People’s Republic, LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik wrote on Telegram.

 

Earlier, the Republic’s parliament approved the law which regulates the establishment, activities and powers of election commissions in the LPR, a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, in compliance with Russia’s federal laws. The document has been signed by the LPR leader and published on his official website.

 

“Under the law, special territorial commissions can be formed to hold remote electronic voting,” he said.

 

Remote electronic voting is the casting of ballots where voters use software on a federal portal which can be accessed from a computer, tablet PC or smartphone connected to the Internet. E-voting participants cannot vote onsite at a voting station.

 

“The elections scheduled for September 2023 have to take place in an organized manner, in full conformity with Russian standards and law,” Pasechnik said.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
