A missile strike by Kiev forces has claimed the lives of 14 Novoaidar township hospital patients and wounded another 24, Russian Defense Ministry reported.

Kiev forces fired a U.S.-made high mobility artillery rocket system at Novoaidar at 07:40 on Saturday damaging a hospital and six homes.
“Fragmentation warheads hit the building killing 14 patients and medical personnel and wounding 24 ,” the report said.

“Civilian and military medics have been treating local residents and servicemen in this facility for many months. The people wounded in the missile attack are receiving quality medical aid at present,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. “The deliberate missile strike at an operating civil medical facility is unquestionably a grave war crime by the Kiev regime. All those involved in planning and committing this crime will be found and held responsible.”

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
