Kiev forces’ strike at Lisichansk targeted a crowd of residents as they were queueing for water, Town Hall officials wrote on Telegram.
“The town came under (NATO caliber) artillery fire at around 10:00, on March 5 as local residents were waiting for a water truck,” the Town Hall said. “It is the people who were the target. A man was killed in the strike and another seven suffered shrapnel wounds.”
Lisichansk Acting Mayor Andrey Skory said that Kiev forces were using terrorists’ methods in the attempt to intimidate the population.
“I’m sure that nothing will come out of it. Victory will be ours,” he said.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
