Ukrainian forces have destroyed their position in Kremennaya manned by the servicemen who wanted to surrender, military expert Lt-Col (Retired) Andrey Marochko told the Lugansk Media Center.

“After a brief exchange of fire west of Kremennaya, a piece of white cloth was hung out at a platoon strongpost, and its commander, using a civilian band frequency, told the Russian forces that 12 servicemen wanted to surrender,” Marochko said referring to his sources.

Lugansk People’s Republic assault teams ceased fire and prepared to evacuate the surrendering troops. “However, when everything was ready, Ukrainian forces delivered an artillery strike and heavy small arms fire at their position, he said adding that all the surrendering troops had most likely been killed.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression.

Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.

The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*ie
