Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) has proposed measures to counter the ideology of terrorism and Neo-Nazism among young people in the new regions, the SK press service said.

SK chairman Alexander Bastrykin took part in an online session of the National Antiterrorism Committee chaired by Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov.

The session considered additional measures to improve the executive bodies’ work in preventing terrorism in the field of education and among young people and protecting them from the negative influence of anti-Russian propaganda which had been stepped up by Ukrainian and western secret services. The Antiterrorism Committee said that the attempts by persons under the influence of various destructive subcultures to prepare armed attacks against education centers posed considerable danger as well.

“The SK has brought forwarded a number of proposals aimed at preventing crimes in the above fields. Special attention must be paid to combating the ideology of terrorism and Neo-Nazism among youths in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions,” the SK press service said.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression on February 24, 2022. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.

The Lugansk People’s Republic, Donetsk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referenda.*i*v
