Investigative Committee files corruption case against LPR district official

The Investigative Committee Department for the Lugansk People’s Republic has instituted criminal proceedings against the first deputy head of the Krasnodon district administration on suspicion of taking a large bribe, the SK press service reported.
 
 “The suspect demanded monthly kickbacks from the husband of a local entrepreneur at a personal meeting in November 2022, promising unhindered passenger transportation business in the Krasnodon district,” the press service said.
 
In March, police detained the official after he had taken a 165,000-ruble bribe from the businesswoman’s husband in Krasnodon.  The investigators who have questioned the detainee will ask the court to place him under house arrest in pre-trial restriction, the SK said. 
 
In October 2022, SK chairman Alexander Bastrykin signed the decree on establishing SK branches in the Donbass Republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
 
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
