The establishment of a free economic zone (SEZ) will help attract investors to the Lugansk People’s Republic, LPR Economic Development Minister Svetlana Podlipayeva told the Lugansk Media Center.

The State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament has approved the first reading of the government-proposed laws to create a free economic zone in the Donbass Republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

The SEZ process in the new territories is at the initial stage, Podlipayeva said.

“I can only say that we’ve been looking forward to see the document and very much hope that it will be approved in the nearest future,” she said. “Investments mean more jobs, which is an impetus to our economic development.”

LPR particularly needs support to its industry and offers “a large field for activities to develop its agricultural sector,” the minister said.
The Lugansk People’s Republic, Donetsk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referenda.*i*v
