The Avtodor Russian Highways State Company has laid more than seven million square meters of road pavement in the new territories in 2023, the company’s press service reported.
“Road construction projects in the new regions involve some 3,500 workers from across Russia and 1,500 pieces of equipment,” the report said.
More than 1,350 kilometers of roads were repaired in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions over two years. Avtodor employees restore roads and bridges every day risking their lives, the company said.

A number of Avtodor personnel were awarded Orders of Courage posthumously by presidential decree. The ceremony to present decorations to heroes’ families took place in Crimea on Friday.

“These are true men who worked and raised children in peaceful times, and who lent a helping hand when the trouble came, for the sake of our country’s future and our common victory. We bow to the parents who have brought up such sons,” Crimea leader Sergei Aksyonov said at the ceremony.*i
