8,500 infrastructure facilities rebuilt in new regions - premier

Specialists have restored some 8,500 infrastructure assets including homes and social facilities in the new Russian regions, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in his annual report on government performance to the State Duma lower house of parliament.

 

“We began to restore the infrastructure in the new regions last year to normalize people’s life and activity,” Mushustin said. “Works have been completed on almost 8,500 facilities including homes, roads, utility lines, in- and outpatient hospitals and schools.”

 

Repairs have been carried out on some 900 kilometers of roads including the highway which links the new regions with the Crimea, as well as on trunk gas pipelines and 3,500 power grid facilities, he added.

 

All these utility lines have already been integrated into united gas- and power-supply systems, the prime minister said.

 

Commenting on implementation of President Vladimir Putin’s instruction to integrate the new regions into Russia’s socio-economic space, Mishustin said that welfare and pension systems with regular payments had been launched. He thanked the lawmakers for quick adoption of the welfare laws.

“It’s an important decision for more than 1.5 million people who began to receive pensions and one million people entitled to allowances and compensations,” he said.

 

The prime minister also noted that support had been provided to people whose homes had been damaged or ruined, and those who had been hurt as a result of hostilities.

 

The Lugansk People’s Republic, Donetsk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referenda. *i*ie
