Some 50 single-family and apartment houses and a number of social infrastructure facilities have been damaged by Kiev artillery fire at Stakhanov, local authorities said.

Kiev forces fired ten missiles at Stakhanov at 03:00 on Thursday using an American high mobility artillery rocket system.

“Windows of some 50 apartment and single-family houses were damaged; reports keep coming from the population,” Town Hall officials said.

The strikes also damaged windows of ten social infrastructure facilities, buildings in the power and water supply line areas and trade outlets.

“It’s five schools, four kindergartens, Children’s and Youth Creativity Center, the Gorky culture center and the town museum,” the Town Hall said. “The shelling caused damage to windows of the Church of St George and the town court.”

The worst damage was caused to Educational Complex No 29 where 52 windows were smashed.

Stakhanov mayor Sergey Zhevlakov inspected the education center and discussed repairs with its director.

Utility company personnel are currently helping local residents to temporarily cover smashed windows with polyethylene films.

“The works to repair heat supply lines are running in municipal buildings. Rebuilding supervision specialists are drawing damage reports,” the Town Hall said.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
